New white balance presets, bug fixesĬontinuing with the good news, darktable 2.0.6 introduces a bunch of new white balance presents, this time for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, Canon EOS 1300D, Canon EOS Kiss X80, Canon EOS Rebel T6, Canon EOS M10, Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II, Fujifilm X-T10, Sony ILCE-6300 digital cameras. Now for the better news for fans of open source RAW image processing, darktable 2.0.6 introduces support for a lot of digital cameras, among which we can mention Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, Canon EOS 1300D, Canon EOS Kiss X80, Canon EOS Rebel T6, Canon EOS M10, Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark II, and Canon PowerShot G9 X.įurthermore, the Fujifilm X-T2, GITUP GIT2, Panasonic DMC-FZ18 (supports both 16:9 and 3:2 formats), Panasonic DMC-FZ50 (supports both 16:9 and 3:2 formats), Pentax K-1, Sony DSLR-A380, Sony ILCE-6300, and Nikon D500 digital cameras are also supported, and there are also white level improvements to other Nikon models. At least the developers are aware of this, though.A new stable version of the open-source and cross-platform darktable RAW image editor has been released, namely version 2.0.6, which brings support for new digital cameras, as well as a bunch of improvements over the previous maintenance update.Īccording to the release notes, the most prominent features of the darktable 2.0.6 update are the support for non-mosaiced RAW image files that contain four RGBA channels (Alpha ones are automatically discarded) and the use of the libexiv2 library for writing metadata for the JPEG format writer component. Normally the selection can be moved wherever, and the outer line (falloff) of the selection can be scaled in and out in relation to the inner line. The outer line on the masks sometimes disappears, and then the inner line freezes, so you can't move the selection. There is a problem with the masking feature, where sometimes drawn masks don't work correctly. Unfortunately I've already discovered bugs. The program now uses GTK3, which partly accounts for the speed up, I believe. There are a few new modules, such as color reconstruction, though the biggest changes have been under the hood.

It loads up image thumbnails much quicker now and even starts up a bit faster I think. I've been using it since then and I am impressed by the improvements over the 1.6 series release. For those Linux users here, Darktable 2.0 (a RAW workflow program) was just released a few days ago.
